The children have their own waiting area with lots of toys,
books, bean bag chairs, blow-up chairs, TV with DVD player and
an X-Box for them to play video games.
We also provide a variety of movies,
including all of the Walt Disney cartoons, as well as videos for
all ages for you or your child's enjoyment during appointments.
We do not encourage parents to bring their children with them
unless they have an appointment also, but we do understand that
sometimes a situation occurs and it is unavoidable.
In preparing a child for his or her first visit, we ask that
the family avoid using negative words like "shot," "needle,"
"pain," etc. We like to use the more positive dental nomenclature,
especially with young patients. An example would be "Mr. Thirsty"
this is how we refer to the suction in front of small children to
keep them at ease. Also, in preparing the child, let him or her
know that the dentist is only going to count their teeth and show
them how to brush properly. We appreciate the extra effort in helping
to make the child's first visit a good experience.
In most instances, we ask that the parents remain
seated in the reception area. This helps the doctor fully concentrate
on the patient without any distractions. Also, the patient is
able to concentrate on the doctor's explicit directions without
any distractions. The way the operatory is set up for children,
the parents can see him or her from the reception area.
In some instances, because of the age of the
child, the parents are required to be directly in the room with
the patient. We do our best in providing quality care for your
child. Thank you for your understanding.
